I started surfing when I was ten years old. Before that, I had played many sports that I still enjoy today, however, I never connected with them like I did with surfing. Not only is it fun to do, but I have learned many skills from my years surfing. Surfing has allowed me to find
peace and calm when life gets hectic. It has taught me to shut off my brain and only worry about what is in front of me. It has also taught
discipline and that you have to work for the results you want, whether they are personal or professional. It has also helped me face my fears. Many times I have been scared when the ocean was bigger, or surfing new waves I didn't know. Surfing has forced me to put myself out of my comfort zone and try things I am afraid of. It has put me in situations where I have found how strong I am both mentally and physically. It has made a huge impact on who I am now and this is why I feel it is relevant to who I am as a person and who I want to be.
